In 2011, the seed for Compass Arts Creativity Project was planted when Gina Samardge ran her first Beacon child/caregiver music and movement class a little dance studio. Over the past 9 years that 1 class grew into 15 weekly classes and ensembles in the visual and performing arts, summer camps, workshops, community events and performances. It's a place of arts intersection with eye toward exploration, play and creativity. A space that inspires people to look at things differently, find connections in a variety of ideas and perspectives, think outside the box, and create Over the years we have occupied the space at Ballet Arts, the Howland Cultural Center, and for the past 4.5 years our own space on Main Street. We sadly had to give up our space due to COVID-19 but are hopeful for the future. We officially launched as a non-profit corporation Compass Arts Creativity Project, Inc. in January and while we await our 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, we have Beacon Arts as our fiscal sponsor.
In 2017, artist, illustrator, and loving mama, Cindy LaColla, brought her daughter Maya to one of Gina's music classes. Over the course of that year, their friendship developed, as did a mutual admiration for each others' art. At one point, Gina told Cindy that if she ever released another family music album, she wanted Cindy to do the artwork. Well, that hasn't happened, but the minute this awesome opportunity appeared, Gina knew exactly who she wanted to call.
The Artist and Business will split the profits 50/50
