Some weeks after I first saw Randall’s work on Native Plant specialist Debra Adamsons’ tee-shirt for the Green Teens, we met in Homespun’s backyard garden and had a lovely conversation, through our masks of course, as one does during a pandemic. Randall was born in Los Angeles, but really grew up in Manhattan, and moved up to Beacon in 2002. One thing was clear, as someone who been in Beacon for 18 years, Randall has a real fondness for our garden at Homespun, having spent a lot of time here. The Green Teens is a group that empowers our local youth to be effective agents of change in our community by immersing themselves in the local food system. Randall and I hope to help support this vibrant youth development program which teaches life and work skills, through hands-on experiences in farming and gardening, health and nutrition, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Randall quickly on connected the idea of our garden and what lands on your plate in the restaurant. For us, the distinction is small, our garden focuses on what is local, and that which we can nurture and watch grow, and what ends up on your plate here at Homespun? Something local, something that is made with love and care, and something that is meant to restore your mind, body and heart, providing an inclusive space for our vibrant, diverse community. Homespun Foods will be donating 100 percent of the profits from this tee-shirt to help support the Green Teens.
100% will go to the GreenTeens
